Design Features That Set the PA-HD3 Apart
High Protection Materials and Outdoor Suitable Ratings
The PA-HD3 Ultra High-Force IP67 Linear Actuator offers the highest force ratings in our line up of electric linear actuators and static waterproof capabilities in a ball screw design. The IP67 linear actuator's ingress protection rating provides an outdoor-rated actuator able to withstand exposure to dust and water submersion while static in harsh environments. An operating temperature range of -40°C to 65°C ensures dependable performance in the PA-HD3 actuator for extreme environments.
High Load Capabilities & Safety Features
The stainless steel shaft, aluminum housing, and metal gears allow it to push and pull up to 3822 lbs and hold up to 4496 lbs. Similar to the PA-13 High Force Industrial Linear Actuators, the PA-HD3 overload protection actuator also comes with a built-in electric shutoff, which triggers at 25 A (12 V). As a manual override actuator, users can still change stroke positions in the event of an electrical power outage. For our PA-HD3, they can be selected to have either a 12 VDC brushed DC motor or a 24 VDC brushed DC motor, depending on which input voltage you prefer to work with. Stroke can be selected from a range of 4" to 24" off the shelf, depending on the space restrictions of your application and how much of a travel distance you require from the actuator. Custom orders can be manufactured up to a 40" stroke length. Limit switches are non-adjustable, however, all stroke length options will come with magnetic sensor limit switches built in for added safety to help prevent damage from over-extending and over-retracting.
Compatibility Through Simple Operation
The standard PA-HD3 actuator with high load capacity features a 2-wire brushed DC motor for simple operation through a Molex Mega-Fit 2-Pin Receptacle at the end of the cable. This allows easy integration with existing systems across multiple applications and industries, simplifying the installation process. When fully loaded to its force rating, the standard 12 VDC model has a current draw of up to 22.0 A, however, the 24 VDC models draw no more than 11.0 A and are suitable for use with the current ratings found in some of our rocker switches.
The PA-HD3 IP67 linear actuator is compatible with a variety of our relays to pair with controllers. With each controller and control box comes a wide range of control options useful for whatever project you have in mind. Take a look at our relays and control systems page for a full list of options. Hall Effect Sensor Customization for Positional Feedback
The PA-HD3 Ultra High Force IP67 Linear Actuator can be custom ordered for hall effect sensor feedback for applications that require advanced control capabilities. Hall effect sensors can be used to read positional feedback information and become especially beneficial for use cases that require synchronized linear actuators. Due to the high current draw, relays and other components may be required for compatibility with other electronic components that have lower current ratings.
Mounting Brackets
The BRK-17 brackets designed for our variety of heavy-duty linear actuators, are compatible with the PA-HD3 and allow for a simple installation process on the stroke rod and motor-end mounting points. The bracket has high durability and allows 180 degrees of rotation for your application. For more detailed information and specifications, please see our mounting brackets product page.

FAQ Questions
1. What industries commonly use heavy-duty linear actuators?
- Heavy-duty linear actuators are widely used across industries that require high force output, rugged outdoor-rated actuator designs, and reliable safety features. Common applications include agriculture, construction equipment, manufacturing, industrial automation, solar tracking systems, and heavy machinery. Their ability to lift, push, or adjust heavy loads makes them ideal for demanding conditions in harsh environments.
2. How does the PA-HD3 handle outdoor and extreme environmental conditions?
- The PA-HD3 is specifically engineered for challenging outdoor conditions. As an IP67 linear actuator, it offers high protection against dust and water submersion while static in harsh environmental conditions. The actuator is also built with durable materials, including a stainless steel shaft, aluminum housing, and metal gears. Combining this with the operating temperature range of -40°C to 65°C allows it to handle a temperature range, ensuring consistent performance in both freezing cold and hot climates.
3. Can electric actuators replace hydraulic systems in industrial setups?
- Yes, electric actuators can often replace hydraulic systems. Hydraulics are traditionally favored for extremely high-force tasks; however, electric actuators now offer higher force ratings compared to previous years and comparable force ratings to certain hydraulics in many use cases. Electric actuators are especially beneficial in applications where precision, programmability, and reduced maintenance are priorities. Additionally, electric actuators are more energy-efficient, easier to integrate, and better suited for meeting certain environmental restrictions without the need for fluid lines, pumps, or ongoing leak maintenance.
